Family Business

The riding facility was built in 1972. For a long time the equestrian farm was leased out. Since extensive renovations were completed in 2018, the farm has once more been run as a family business. Horse owners, horses and riding enthusiasts can now enjoy the benefits of a modern and well-maintained facility. The riding facility is managed by Western and recreational rider Kim Wurster. She is supported by her father and mother to the best of their ability. Father Jürgen Wurster used to be an active show jumper himself. “I want to create a cosy and appealing equestrian farm with a family atmosphere in which horses and riders are the main focus, where they can feel comfortable and lack nothing," Kim Wurster describes her vision. Attentiveness and calmness in dealing with the animals entrusted to their care are a matter of course for the Wurster family and the team.

Optimal accommodation

For this reason the optimum accommodation and care of the horses has the highest priority at Reiterhof Wurster. The owners can choose between different types of stabling for their horses such as paddock stalls, indoor or outdoor stalls. Some stalls are also especially designed for horses with allergies. All stalls are spacious and have very good climatic conditions. Bars above the closed part of the stall area offer the horses the chance to see and smell their neighbours. All stalls are equipped with flat, non-slip and resilient terra-tex® floors. The paddocks are mud-free and partially covered. The boarding horses receive the highest quality feed and sufficient fresh water – water troughs and water pipes are heated.

Lots of room to move

The equestrian farm is bordered by pasture land with paddocks where horses can romp or relax. Two well-maintained riding arenas, also equipped with terra-tex® flooring, are located on the equestrian farm grounds. A 20 by 40 metre outdoor riding arena is directly adjacent to the stable wing. This riding arena has direct access to the outdoor terrace. There is also an additional 30 by 70 metre riding arena equipped with jumping fences. A 20 by 60 metre indoor riding arena offers the very best riding conditions all year round. The indoor riding arena is directly connected to the stables and is accessible in all weather conditions with dry feet and hooves. The indoor riding arena has a sprinkler system and is equipped with a mirror at one end and a spectator stand.

Covered horse walker

As part of the 2019 refurbishment, a horse walker with roof for eight horses with an integrated round pen with a diameter of 17 metres was also purchased. The Wurster family spent a lot of time designing their equestrian centre and looked around for inspiration at renowned farms such as the Hofgut Dagobertshausen. In the end, the "Multiline 20 Metre" horsewalker and lungeing arena from Röwer & Rüb won the race. “This arena scored particularly well in terms of system, technology and appearance and was generally very impressive. It fits perfectly into the overall picture, as if it had always been there," adds the owner happily. One distinctive feature is the recessed switchbox, which means that no cables or wires are visible. The horsewalker is used in the morning in winter and in the afternoon in summer. The times for using the indoor lunging arena inside the horsewalker can also be booked via the app.

Feature rain gutter

Another special feature is the rain gutter, which blends inconspicuously into the overall picture. The rainwater is fed directly to the cistern below the horsewalker. The Wurster family feels that Röwer & Rüb employee Marc Poppel has provided excellent advice during this project. “We wanted to enhance the range of services we offer our stall-holders and recognised the need for a horsewalker. This creates optimum conditions for working on the ground and loosening the muscles," explains Kim Utz. This has gone down very well with the boarders. “95 percent of our horse owners use the horsewalker, and we have even been able to gain new customers as a result," adds the boss with pleasure.
